King Charles III Peregrine Falcon Brooch
King Charles III Peregrine Falcon Brooch
In early 2023, we embarked on a prestigious journey. Honored and humbled, we were tasked with crafting two solid silver falcons, an integral part of a unique coronation gift for King Charles III. This extraordinary project was a collaboration with the talented artist Graham Hall, who skilfully shaped a stunning wooden bowl from a fallen Elm near Tynwald Hill.
Our falcons, hand drawn and designed by Claire and crafted from recycled Sterling Silver, were not only a nod to eco-consciousness but also a continuation of a 600-year-old tradition.
A Brief History
In 1406, Henry IV bestowed the Isle of Man to Sir John Stanley with a unique condition - to present two peregrine falcons to every future English monarch at their coronation. This tradition continued until George IV's coronation in 1821. The peregrine falcon, a proud symbol on our coat of arms, has since remained a feature in Manx coronation gifts, including the two silver falcons gifted to Elizabeth II in 1953, now at Balmoral.
And now, we bring a piece of this rich history to you with our replica Silver brooches, available in both falcon designs, accompanied by an information card about the pieces and their significance, personally signed by Claire.
